The CARS Late Model Stock Car Tour will be visiting their second new venue of the season in Caraway Speedway on Saturday evening for the David “Lightning” Saunders Memorial 125.

Since opening in 1966, drivers like Dale Earnhardt, Harry Gant, Richie Evans, Sam Ard and others have all visited victory lane at Caraway but only a handful of CARS LMSC Tour competitors have a significant amount of experience at the track.

One driver that has been very familiar with Caraway over the last few years is defending CARS LMSC Tour champion Jared Fryar, who has won in both a PASS South and PRA Super Late Model Series at the track, He most recently competed at Caraway in a SMART Modified Tour event back on March 14, where he finished seventh.

Fryar currently trails by just 11 points in the standings to two-time champion Bobby McCarty, who opened up his advantage in the point standings despite finishing second to Layne Riggs in the most recent race at Ace Speedway.

Two poor showings earlier this year have slowed Riggs but he arrives at Caraway with momentum on his side after leading 124 of the 125 laps at Ace.

Saturday’s 125-lap feature will pay tribute to long-time Caraway and CARS LMSC Tour tech director David “Lightning” Saunders, who passed away on Nov. 27, 2019 at the age of 54.

The David “Lightning” Saunders Memorial 125 can be viewed live on carstour.tv, with the green flag scheduled to fly shortly after the Mini Stocks feature at 7 p.m. The complete entry list can be viewed below.
