Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series driver Ryan Newman was fastest in the only NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour practice session on Friday at New Hampshire Motor Speedway. Behind the wheel of his No. 77 Menards/Curb Records Chevrolet, Newman posted a fast lap of 28.813 seconds (132.190 mph) around the 1.058-mile NHMS oval.

Rowan Pennink was second fastest in the session with a time of 28.814 seconds (132.186 mph) as he seeks his first career win at the ‘Magic Miie.’ Pennink enters the race fifth in the championship standings with just three races remaining.

Bobby Santos, who won the July race at New Hampshire, was third fastest in practice, posting a lap of 28.851 seconds (132.016 mph). Donny Lia and Timmy Solomito rounded out the top five. Solomito enters the race third in the championship chase, just nine points from the lead.

Patrick Emerling was sixth, while Jon McKennedy, who is filling-in for Ryan Preece, was seventh. Preece will compete in the NASCAR XFINITY Series for Joe Gibbs Racing on Saturday at Kentucky Speedway.

Andy Seuss was eighth, followed by four-time series champion Doug Coby, who is second in the standings entering NHMS. Ron Silk rounded out the top 10.

The NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour returns to the track for Coors Light Pole qualifying on Friday afternoon at 2:30 p.m.
